Robert Feldgarden is counsel in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Washington, D.C. office. As a member of the Tax Department, Robert practices in a variety of federal income tax matters, including the design and analysis of novel financial instruments intended to achieve favorable income tax consequences; the taxation of foreign currency transactions; the taxation of foreign operations of U.S.-based multinational companies; the taxation of domestic operations of foreign-based multinational companies and stock options and other executive compensation vehicles.
Robert works primarily with publicly-held multinational companies, including several investment banking firms. He advised Avon Products, Inc. when it issued PERCS, and Pfizer, Inc. when it sought to issue unbundled stock units.
Prior to entering private practice, Robert was an attorney-advisor in the Legislation & Regulation Division of the Office of Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service (1965-1968). He also served as an attorney-advisor in the Office of Tax Legislative Counsel, U.S. Treasury Department (1968-1972). On leaving the Treasury Department, Robert received the Office of the Secretary Honor Award.
