Dr. Conn has been a managing director of Enterprise Partners Venture Capital since 2002. EPVC is a 20 year old venture capital firm in San Diego that invests generally in early stage companies in the areas of semiconductors, software, systems, networking and life sciences. Dr. Conn was from 1994 to 2002 the Dean of the Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California, San Diego, and the Walter J. Zable endowed chair in engineering. He is an internationally recognized leader in the field of semiconductors, materials and energy and a member of the National Academy of Engineering. Prior to joining UC, San Diego, he served as professor of engineering and applied sciences and founding director of the Institute of Plasma and Fusion Research at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Dr. Conn founded Plasma & Materials Technologies (now Trikon Technologies, NASDAQ TKON), a manufacturer of semiconductor chip etching and deposition equipment, where he served as chairman of the board and senior technologist from 1986 until 1993. Dr. Conn served on the Board of Directors of ChipPAC, Inc. from 2002 through 2004, and is currently on the Board of Directors of STATS ChipPAC, Inc. Presently, he is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and also serves on the Board of Directors of several privately-held companies. Dr. Conn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Pratt Institute and his Master of Science and Ph.D. in engineering from the California Institute of Technology. |
