Mr. Berner is a Professional Engineer and has been a telecommunications industry manager for over 25 years. He joined Rogers Wireless in early 1985 to launch and operate the Rogers Wireless network. Mr. Berner’s subsequent positions at Rogers have encompassed executive management responsibilities in a broad variety of areas including engineering, operations, finance and administration, regulatory affairs, and business and strategic planning. Since 1996, he has held the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Rogers Wireless and is responsible for the evolution, planning, engineering, deployment and operation of Rogers Wireless’ national GSM/GPRS/EDGE, TDMA/AMPS, paging, Mobitex and fixed wireless networks, as well as Product Development and Regulatory Affairs. Rogers is currently engaged in rolling out its national UMTS/HSDPA network.
In 2005, Mr. Berner took on the additional role of Chief Technology Officer for Rogers Communications Inc., which includes the company’s Cable Television and wireline telephony services. |
