Mr. Alspaugh was chief executive officer of KPMG International from 2002 to 2005. He served on the board of KPMG International and was responsible for implementing the strategy of the global organization, which included member firms in 150 countries and more than 100,000 employees.
He joined KPMG in the Denver office in 1969 and was elected partner in 1978. Prior positions included managing partner of the San Francisco office; area managing partner for the Western U.S. and Pacific Rim practices; vice chairman of audit, deputy chairman and chief operating officer for the U.S. firm. He served on the management committee for more than 10 years and on its board of directors for nearly four years.
In addition to his directorship at Ball, Mr. Alspaugh is a member of the board for Autoliv Inc., a worldwide leader in automotive safety systems, based in Stockholm, Sweden (NYSE:ALV); and Fritz Institute, a global non-profit organization known for its innovative approaches to humanitarian logistics. He is a current member of the board of the Monterey Museum of Art and the Salvation Army's National Advisory Board.
He is chairman emeritus of the Volunteer Center of San Francisco; has been a member of the Corporate Fund of New York's Lincoln Center; on the board of the American Friends of Lucerne Festival; and the board and executive committee of the San Francisco Symphony.
Mr. Alspaugh was born in Waxahachie, Texas, and graduated summa cum laude from Baylor University in 1970. |
