In1997, following a successful 24-year executive career at Loral Corporation, LaPenta orchestrated the purchase of ten business units from Lockheed Martin to form L-3 Communications. As L-3's president, CFO and board member, LaPenta guided the company to $8 billion in annual revenue, EBITDA growth from $60 million to $1 billion and a stock-price appreciation from $5 to $170 pre-split. While there, he also founded the Homeland Security Business, with annual revenues exceeding $700 million. LaPenta also served as corporate vice president and CFO of the C4ISR Group of Lockheed Martin during 1996 and 1997, where he lead the Command, Control, Computer, Communication, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance business sector with over $8 billion in annual revenue. As corporate vice president for Loral Corporation from1972 to 1996, LaPenta grew revenue from $20 million to $7 billion and EBITDA from a $5 million loss to $900 million. In April 2005, LaPenta left L-3 to launch L-1 Investment Partners with one goal: To build a private equity investment firm that invests in companies in the security and identity management area. L-1 Investment Partners envisions following the successful L-3 business model, in which more than 60 individual business were acquired and run as separate entities under a common management approach. |
