Robert V. James is Senior Managing Director for Countrywide Financial Corporation (NYSE: CFC), a diversified financial services provider and member of the S&P 500. He also serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Countrywide Insurance Group, the umbrella organization that encompasses the insurance business segment of CFC.
James is responsible for overseeing all business activities for Countrywide Insurance Group, which is comprised of three strategic business units, along with four centralized operations and support departments. With proven skills in operational leadership, profit and loss accountability and strategic planning, James spearheads the growth and profitability of strategic business units that include: the Financial Institutions unit, which operates primarily as Balboa Insurance Group; the Personal Lines unit, which provides homeowners, renters, auto and other voluntary personal insurance products to consumers, and the Commercial Lines units, which serves as an agency-brokerage for commercial insurance.
Prior to joining Countrywide Insurance Group, James served as Executive Vice President of U.S. Insurance Operations for CNA Insurance Companies. Among his responsibilities were oversight of field operations in five regional and 34 branch offices, and worldwide processing and billing operations. With 25 years of underwriting, operations, sales, marketing and technology experience, James also held management and sales positions with Allstate Insurance, MetLife Auto & Home, Allmerica Financial and American International Group. |
