Experience:
Robert Fitzsimmons advises a wide range of clients regarding real estate and private equity investments. He focuses on financing transactions in all real estate asset categories, through equity ventures, international private equity funds and debt issues (including unsecured lending and structured debt transactions). Projects that Robert has facilitated include the development of industrial parks, corporate headquarters and significant retail and residential developments, as well as technology ventures and facilities. He advises clients on the assembly and disposition of vacant and improved real estate, office, and on industrial and retail leasing. He also provides government relations guidance to help clients secure regulatory approvals for infrastructure, utility and gaming facilities. Robert’s government relations work further involves securing approvals from state and local agencies in a wide variety of issues, including development, transportation and historic preservation.
In his more than 20 years of practice with Mayer Brown, Robert has developed a variety of additional practice strengths. He has advised on numerous projects for institutional and not-for-profit entities, including pension funds, religious organizations and 501(c) entities. He applies his extensive financial experience to banking matters, including unsecured lending, loan participation, letters of credit, interest rate swaps and loan workouts. In general corporate matters, Robert has served as General Counsel for an environmental consulting firm. He also advises real estate and non-real estate entities regarding corporate and partnership issues, including drafting of agreements, articles and by-laws, and keeping records and minutes.
