As Chief Operating Officer E*Trade Bank Robert V. Burton heads the special committee at E*Trade Financial tasked with aggressively reducing the risk of the Company's real estate portfolio. With over 25 years experience in mortgage and banking finance Mr. Burton plays a key role in advancing a critically important part of the Company's turnaround plan.
Prior to joining E*Trade in 2007 Mr. Burton served as Executive Vice President and Head of Retail Credit Businesses and Products at Wachovia Corporation. Among his accomplishments during his ten-year tenure with the company he led the team that exceeded budgeted earnings by over $1 billion in net income during a five-year period rebuilt the mortgage business to create a customer service focused businesses that ranked #1 in Home Equity by JD Power in 2006 and raised operating productivity by over 100 percent.
Prior to Wachovia Mr. Burton served as an independent consultant to KPMG Peat Marwick and as Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at the PNC Mortgage Banking Group (formerly Sears). He was also Senior Vice President and Group Finance Officer at Bank of America where he was responsible for overall financial management of the Wholesale Banking Group one of four operating business groups within Bank of America. He supported businesses with over $2 billion in revenue and $50 billion in assets including commercial lending corporate banking commercial real estate investment banking and capital markets.
