Bob Holster is Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of HMS Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ: HMSY). He is responsible for setting overall strategic direction for the Company and its operating subsidiaries.
Mr. Holster has more than 30 years of business and financial management experience with a variety of large public and private companies involved in the healthcare industry. He first joined HMSY in 1982, serving as Chief Financial Officer and later as Executive Vice President. In the latter capacity he was responsible for product development, as well as for the Company's entry into the Medicaid coordination of benefits market. After departing HMSY in 1993, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of HHL Financial Services, Inc., then one of the nation's largest privately held providers of business office services to hospitals. He returned to HMS Holdings in 2001 as President and Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Holster began his career with Pfizer, Inc. and later was Chief Financial Officer of Macmillan, Inc. He is currently a director of HI-Tech Pharmacal, Inc. (NASDAQ: HITK), a manufacturer of generic and over-the-counter pharmaceutical products, and of Varsity Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: VSTY), an Internet-based retailer of textbooks and educational materials.
Mr. Holster was a Samuel Bronfman fellow at Columbia University, from which he received an M.B.A. in finance; he received a B.A. in Economics from the University of Connecticut. He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970.
