Robert J. Remenar 50 is a vice president of Delphi Corporation and president of Delphi Steering. He is also a member of the Delphi Strategy Board the company's top policy-making group. He is the executive champion for the program management task team and is the executive customer champion for the General Motors account.
He has responsibility for Delphi's worldwide Steering business which supports more than 60 customers and includes more than 11 500 employees at 15 manufacturing sites (22 manufacturing plants) 8 technical centers on four continents and 13 customer centers.
Remenar began his career with American Natural Resources Corp. in 1978. He joined General Motors (GM) in 1985 as an associate administrator with Chevrolet-Pontiac-GM of Canada in Warren Mich. In 1986 he transferred to Saturn Corp.'s Troy MI headquarters as a senior administrator and in 1989 transferred to Saturn's Spring Hill TN facility as a manager of finance.
In 1991 Remenar returned to Detroit as a manager for the GM headquarters financial staff and was named director of corporate financial analysis on the GM controller's staff in 1993. He was named director of health care cost analysis in 1994 and director of employment cost analysis shortly thereafter serving in several capacities including senior financial executive on GM's 1996 National Bargaining Committee. In November 1996 he was named director of compensation policy development and employee relations for GM North American Operations personnel.
In March 1998 Remenar was named director of human resources for Delphi Chassis Systems in Dayton Ohio. In November 1998 he was named director of worldwide finance for Delphi Energy in Flint MI and in April 1999 was assigned the role of worldwide finance director for Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems. In January 2000 he became executive director of business lines for Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems. In this role he was responsible for the strategy and success of nine principal global business lines comprising the $10 billion Energy & Chassis division. He was named to his current position effective April 1 2002.
Remenar earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Central Michigan University and a master's degree in business administration from Walsh College. He was also a former member of the board of directors for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan.
