Dr. Robert J. Lefkowitz, has made seminal discoveries in elucidating the key components of cellular signal transduction, resulting in being the most highly cited scientist in the world in the field of Biology and Biochemistry for the period 1992-2002, as determined by the ISI Essential Science Indicators. Dr. Lefkowitz completed his clinical training in cardiovascular disease at Massachusetts General Hospital, and is now James B. Duke Professor of Medicine and Biochemistry at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Lefkowitz was an Established investigator of the American Heart Association from 1973-76 and has been a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator since 1976. His other many awards include the Gairdner Foundation International Award, the Institut de France Fondation Lefoulon-Delalande Grand Prix for Science Award, the Robert J. and Claire Pasarow Foundation Award for Cardiovascular Research, and the Jessie Stevenson Kovalenko Medal from the National Academy of Sciences. |
