Mr. Mitro has been a private investor and has served on the boards of directors of multiple start-up companies, including Vovida Networks, a developer of a Linux-based carrier class softswitch, which was acquired by Cisco Systems in November 2000; Co-Founder of vCIS Technology, a behavior analysis and malicious code software security company, where he also served as President & CEO, which was acquired by Internet Security Systems in October 2002; and Co-Founder of Telverse Communications, a next-generation advanced services ASP focused on wholesale communications services for carriers, service providers and value-added resellers, which was acquired in by Level 3 Communications in July 2003.
Most recently, Mr. Mitro was elected Chairman of Windspring, which has developed a data miniaturization technology that allows data manipulation and editing of data in the compressed state, primarily for storage and wireless markets.
Mr. Mitro has held numerous executive positions including President and CEO, vCIS Technology; President, eCycle, Inc.; President & COO, Engelhard/ICC; Sr. VP & General Manager, PictureTel Worldwide Sales, Marketing and Services Group; VP Sales & Marketing, Harris Corporation; plus Group Director, IBM Storage Systems Group; and Manager, IBM Engineering/Scientific Marketing during a 17 year career at IBM.
In addition to his general management experience, Mr. Mitro has had a successful 30 year career in sales, marketing, business development and management consulting for a variety of companies in the high tech industry; including extensive experience in fund raising, business strategy and development, market entry for emerging products and markets, global market and channel development; strategic partner alliances, and joint venture investment strategies for both large corporations and start-up companies alike.
Mr. Mitro received his BE at Stevens Institute of Technology, and has also completed Executive Programs at the Graduate Schools of Business at Harvard University and the University of Michigan. |
