Robert Brown, Jr. is the Managing General Partner of the Meridian Venture Funds and has been in the private equity business for over twenty years. Prior to co-founding Meridian Venture Partners in 1987, Mr. Brown was a principal of a venture capital/investment banking firm located in Radnor, Pennsylvania. Early in his career, Mr. Brown was instrumental in the development of the private equity industry in the Greater Delaware Valley. He was a member of an ad hoc committee formed to launch Century IV Partners, the first institutionally sponsored venture capital firm in Philadelphia. Mr. Brown was also a founding member of the Greater Philadelphia Venture Group, the professional association for the venture capital industry in the Delaware Valley area, and served as its Chairman in 1990-91. In 1989, Mr. Brown founded the Philadelphia Venture Capital Conference, which has become the major mid-Atlantic region venture capital conference. He also was a founding Director of the Penn Venture Fund.
At MVP, Mr. Brown has investment responsibility for Planalytics, Index Stock Imagery, Mothers Work, Inc., Dorland Healthcare Information, and the Meadowbrook Golf Group.
Mr. Brown is a graduate of Princeton University, and holds an MBA from the Wharton Graduate School and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania. He is also a Certified Public Accountant. |
