Bob Waterman is Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA, the nations leading provider of healthcare services.
Waterman joined HCA as General Counsel in November 1997, and has led numerous negotiations of large corporate transactions, including the sale of 21 hospitals in 1998, for $1.2 billion, and the acquisition of the Health Midwest system in Kansas City for $1.12 billion in April 2003.
Prior to joining HCA, Waterman was a partner in the San Francisco office of Latham & Watkins, one of the nation’s largest law firms. At Latham & Watkins, Waterman was the nationwide chair of the firm’s healthcare group. He is a member of the Board of Directors of University School of Nashville, and also a member of Leadership Nashville, an organization of Nashville’s civic and business leaders. Waterman is an active supporter of numerous Nashville charitable and nonprofit organizations.
A native of California, Waterman graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English from California State University, Long Beach, summa cum laude. He then earned his law degree from the University of California, Berkeley (Boalt Hall). At Boalt, he was Note and Comment Editor and a member of the Board of Editors of the California Law Review. He resides in Nashville with his wife Leslie and their twin boys, Brandon and Zachary, age nine. Waterman was born on January 4, 1954. |
