Rob Salmon is the executive vice president of field operations at Network Appliance. With more than ten years of experience at NetApp, Rob has helped fuel the company's rise from a NAS start-up to a full-line enterprise storage provider with more than $1.5B in annualized sales (based on quarterly results announced in February 2005). As the head of worldwide sales, Rob has helped the company embrace Total Customer Experience and "whole product" initiatives in the field, become channel-friendly and -ready by treating distribution and reseller partners as extensions of the NetApp team, focus NetApp sales teams with stronger account type delineations and programs, extend the company's footprint into professional services sales, expand the NetApp presence internationally, and adopt a solutions-selling approach to address customers' most pressing data management needs. Before he ran worldwide sales at NetApp, Rob was the head of Americas sales where he led his teams to success before, during, and after the Internet boom and was vital to the NetApp transformation from a storage company selling to tech and Internet accounts to a company selling enterprise solutions into financial services, energy, manufacturing, and other "traditional" verticals. Rob joined NetApp in 1994 with almost a decade of high-technology sales experience at Sun Microsystems and Data General Corporation. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from California State University, Chico. |
