Rick Goings, the Chairman of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, brings almost two decades of experience with Clubs to the role.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tupperware Brands Corporation, Goings joined BGCA’s Board of Governors in 1989. He leads a board regarded by many as one of the most influential in the nonprofit world.
Since joining the BGCA board, Goings has chaired several committees, including government relations, marketing & communications, human resources and compensation.
In his role as Chairman of BGCA’s marketing & communications committee, Goings recruited former Club member and Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington to serve as the organization’s chief spokesperson. Washington appeared in a public service advertising campaign that The Wall Street Journal, along with other critics, recognized as one of the best.
As leader of an internationally successful corporation, Goings has brought his business savvy to BGCA, positioning the organization as one of the best investments corporations can make in the future of America.
In many communities, there are no structured programs and activities for young people, particularly after school, said Goings. Boys & Girls Clubs have stepped up with innovative partnerships that reach kids in every environment, from schools and military bases to public housing and Native American lands. Kids go to the Club because it’s fun, and they feel a sense of belonging. Once there, they participate in programs with tangible impact, affecting critical needs such as their health, education and, for teens, their employability.
Goings and his wife, Susan, reside in Orlando, Florida. |
