Richard is Finance Director of IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) one of the world’s largest hotel companies by number of rooms. IHG operates almost 564 000 rooms and over 3 800 hotels across nearly 100 countries.
A member of the IHG Board and Executive Committee Richard leads the Global Finance organisation for the group and reports directly to IHG Chief Executive Andy Cosslett. Richard is responsible for corporate and regional finance Group financial control asset management strategy and corporate development investor relations tax and treasury.
Richard joined IHG in June 1992 and subsequently held a number of senior roles including Chief Operating Officer of the Americas Hotels division being appointed Finance Director of the company in March 2003. In this role he was responsible for overseeing the separation of IHG from Six Continents later in 2003 and the IPO of the Britvic soft drinks division in late 2005.
A graduate of Manchester University Richard qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in 1985. From there he worked in Investment banking for seven years with Hill Samuel Bank including a two year stint in New York.
