Richard Sanders Jr., 50, has been Terra’s Vice President, Manufacturing since July 2003. He joined Terra with the company’s purchase of Agricultural Minerals and Chemicals Inc. in 1994 Richard earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge in 1980. He was a Production Engineer for Agrico for five years, then moved into management positions in the company’s nitrogen and phosphate operations. In 1993, Richard became Plant Manager at Terra’s Beaumont, Texas, methanol manufacturing facility. From 1995 through June 2003, he was Plant Manager at Terra’s Verdigris, Oklahoma nitrogen manufacturing facility. Richard operates from a core set of values and morals, an integrity developed from his common sense upbringing, education, and plant experience. His decisions and actions are always an extension of these key principals. He leads by example and fosters a roll up your sleeves and get to work style that helps employees understand that anything is possible. Richard’s decisions represent what is in the best interest of Terra and its employees. These traits make his leadership style very effective and consistent, allowing those working for him to adopt these same key principals as a respectful extension of his style.
