Dr. Richard Powers is past President of INSIGHT and a Founding Director (Emeritus). He has more than thirty-five years experience in logistics, information systems, human resource planning, and systems analysis.
He earned his Ph.D. in management information systems from the University of Minnesota and an M.B.A. in distribution management from Michigan State University. He is a frequent conference and seminar speaker and has published in the areas of logistics, human resources, management science, and management information systems. In 1990 Dr. Powers served as President of the Council of Logistics Management. The Council recognized Dr. Powers in 1999 with its Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an individual for achievement in logistics.
Prior to the founding of INSIGHT, Dr. Powers worked for the Department of Defense on the largest distribution system study ever undertaken. He also served as an advisor to the Secretary of Defense on defense manpower policies and programs. In addition to his INSIGHT duties, Dr. Powers has taught in the graduate management programs of several universities in the Washington, D.C. area. |
