Rick Monk is an associate in the Firm’s Corporate Section. Mr. Monk provides a broad range of representation drawing on the many facets of his legal career.
Mr. Monk has an active tax exempt organizations practice in which he provides general legal advice to nonprofit organizations including counsel on nonprofit corporate governance, general contract law, legislative analysis and employment law matters. Additionally, Mr. Monk indulges his passion for a healthy environment with an active land conservation practice representing organizations acquiring property and conservation easements from private landowners.
Mr. Monk also provides advice on corporate law matters ranging from start-up issues, corporate governance, general contract law and securities law. Mr. Monk has experience in the representation of issuers and underwriters in public and private offerings of equity and debt securities, the representation of corporate clients in mergers and acquisitions and the ongoing representation of public companies, including the preparation of periodic reports under the federal securities laws. His representative experience includes the representation of issuers and underwriters in numerous public offerings, including master limited partnerships. Mr. Monk is also experienced in immigration matters.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Monk held legal positions with a nonprofit organization providing community legal services, a law firm providing general counsel services to small businesses and a nationally prominent firm specializing in corporate and securities law.
Prior to embarking on his legal career, Mr. Monk lived and worked in Asia and Latin America where he learned to speak Spanish. He holds degrees from Emory University and the University of Houston Law Center. He is admitted to practice in Texas and his admission is pending in the District of Columbia. |
