Richard Guay was named Chief Investment Officer of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec in March 2006. In this position, he supervises four vice-presidents in charge of investment, who are responsible for 14 of the Caisse’s 18 specialized portfolios. He also manages asset allocation, leverage use and index selection and establishes value-added objectives for the aforementioned groups as well as for the Real Estate and Private Equity investment groups.
In addition, Mr. Guay oversees the following teams: Investment Policy Research and Advice, Tactical Asset Allocation, Foreign Exchange, Analytical Support, and Project Administration and Management. He is also a member of the Management committee.
Background
Richard Guay joined the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec in 1995. In November 2002 he was appointed Executive Vice-President, Risk Management and Depositors’ Accounts Management. In March 2006, he became the Caisse’s Chief Investment Officer.
Mr. Guay holds a Master in Economics from Queens University, an M.Sc. in Finance from the HEC Montréal business school and a Ph.D. in Finance and Economics from Queens University. He taught finance at HEC Montréal from 1989 to 1994.
