Richard Flake joined Provident Community Bank September 5 1995 as its Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President. He is also a member of the ALCO Committee the Loan Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee and serves as the Bank’s Treasurer.
Mr. Flake began his professional career in 1975 when he joined Greater Carolina’s Corporation as Comptroller. In 1978 he became Vice President and Controller at Bankers Mortgage Corporation. In 1984 he became Senior Vice President and Controller for Security Federal Savings Bank. After leaving Security Federal he joined Republic National Bank in 1989 as Senior Vice President and Controller and in 1991 he joined United Financial Corporation as Senior Vice President and Corporate Accounting Manager.
Mr. Flake’s education includes a B.S. in Management and Accounting from Louisiana State University. He has attended numerous seminars and courses offered through the Community Financial Institutions of South Carolina.
His civic and professional activities include serving on the board of directors of the Union County YMCA and chairman of the Homeownership Review Committee for the City of Union. Mr. Flake is a member of the South Carolina Bankers Association Asset Liability Committee. Mr. Flake serves on the advisory board of the Community Development Financial Institutions. In addition Mr. Flake is Vice Chairman of the board for the Business Carolina Development Corporation and Chairman of the Loan Committee for the BCI Development Corporation. The BCI Development Corporation operates under the Small Business Administration (SBA) under the 504 small business lending program while Business Carolina promotes community development and small business lending to rural markets.
