Richard Emerson is a Senior Managing Director of the firm’s investment activities and private equity business.
Prior to joining Evercore, Mr. Emerson was Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy at Microsoft where was he responsible for leading Microsoft's overall corporate development activities, including mergers, acquisitions and strategic partnerships and corporate strategy. Mr. Emerson also was a member of Microsoft's Business Leadership Team. This group shares responsibility with Steve Ballmer, Microsoft's president and CEO, for broad strategic and business planning for the entire company. Prior to joining Microsoft in 2000, Mr. Emerson was managing director and co-head of technology and telecommunications advisory services at Lazard Frères & Co. LLC, where he also ran the West Coast office, working on many of the seminal industry transactions. He spent 12 years in San Francisco and New York with Lazard and Morgan Stanley, specializing in advising clients in the technology and telecommunications sectors on mergers, acquisitions and strategic partnerships.
Mr. Emerson holds B.A. and M.A. in economics from Stanford University, and an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College. In addition, he has a graduate-level technology background from Stanford in artificial intelligence and held summer positions at IBM's T.J. Watson Research Laboratory and G.E.'s Corporate R&D Laboratory. |
