Richard V. Silver is Executive Vice President and General Counsel of AXA Financial Inc. and its principal insurance subsidiary AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company.
Previously Mr. Silver was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Equitable Life and Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of AXA Financial.
Mr. Silver joined Equitable Life in 1986 as a member of the company's Law Department where his responsibilities included serving as Counsel to Equico Securities the predecessor of AXA Advisors LLC. Two years later he was elected Vice President. Mr. Silver was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Equico Securities in 1991 and served in this capacity until becoming Equitable Life's Chief Compliance Officer in January 1995. He was elected Senior Vice President in February 1995. In June 1996 he assumed responsibility for the Law Department's Corporate and Investment Practice Group and was named Deputy General Counsel in late 1996.
Prior to joining Equitable Life Mr. Silver was a Vice President and senior securities attorney with a subsidiary of Merrill Lynch & Co. Before joining Merrill Lynch he was an Associate at the New York law firm of Cahill Gordon & Reindel.
Mr. Silver is a member of the Variable Insurance Products and Independent Dealer/Insurance Affiliate committees of the National Association of Securities Dealers Inc. and represents Equitable Life on a number of industry committees.
Mr. Silver earned a B.A. in government and politics from St. John's University and a J.D. from St. John's University School of Law where he was an editor of the St. John's Law Review. |
