Richard Shier is executive vice president and director of City National Bank’s Operations Services and Product Solutions. He also serves as a member of the bank’s Executive Committee.
Mr. Shier is responsible for developing new deposit, loan, online, card, international and wealth management products. He also oversees multiple operations and services, including Central Operations and Deposit Services, Payment Services, including check, cash, lockbox, funds transfer, ATM and debit card services, Operations Risk and Administration, Regional Operations Management, Internal Communications and Brokerage and Trust Operations. In addition, he oversees critical Know Your Client and anti-money laundering support processes.
Mr. Shier and his leadership team have centralized, automated or eliminated more than 80 processes in recent years. Their efforts to consolidate and streamline services have dramatically strengthened City National’s productivity, saving the bank millions of dollars and generating earnings via fee revenue growth.
Before joining City National, Mr. Shier worked for several major financial institutions, consulting firms and technology service companies during his 27-year career.
Additionally, Mr. Shier is on the board and executive committee of the Western Payments Alliance, one of the nation’s largest regional payments associations, and on the steering committee of The Clearing House Payments Company, the leading private-sector payment system infrastructure for clearing and settling U.S. dollar payments.
