Dr. Ryu graduated cum laude from Yale University with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. He attended the University of California San Francisco medical school, and completed his residency there as well in orthopaedic surgery. His fellowship year was spent at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles followed by private practice in Santa Barbara, California for the past 20 years. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and has served as its Program Chairman for the 2006 annual meeting. He has also served as Chairman of the Education Committee and the Ethics and Standards Committee . He recently completed a six year term as a California delegate to the Council of Delegates for the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and provides coverage for several universities and high schools. Dr. Ryu sits on the Editorial Board of Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Review, and has been a guest editor for the Journal of Arthroscopy in addition to Operative Techniques in Sports Medicine. He is the author of more than 50 scientific articles and book chapters and has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally on arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder. |
