Richard J. Frey is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP resident in the Firm’s Los Angeles office. As a member of the Trial Department, he focuses his practice on labor and employment matters, including all types of employment litigation, collective bargaining, union organizing, and labor arbitration. Richard also handles trade secret and unfair competition litigation, and has substantial experience with state and federal class actions. In addition to his significant litigation experience, Richard provides transactional advice on employee-related issues associated with mergers and acquisitions and has negotiated numerous executive employment contracts.
Richard has worked with hospitals and other healthcare companies, film production and distribution companies, sports agencies, technology companies, biotech companies, retailers, and manufacturers, as well as general corporate clients. He externed as a law clerk with the Hon. James M. Ideman of the U.S. District Court, Central District of California in 1993.
During law school Richard was a Dean’s Merit Scholar and a member of the Law Review. He is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. District Court, Central, Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of California and before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
