Richard Goldstein is a Shareholder in the Los Angeles office Bank and Finance Group. He is a past President of the Firm, a past Chair of the Bank and Finance Group and Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Directors.
Mr. Goldstein focuses his practice on the representation of banks, commercial lenders, factors and leasing companies. In connection with his representation of these clients, he structures and documents secured loan transactions, aircraft/equipment leases and the working out of complex personal property secured loans. He also assists clients of the firm in the acquisition and management of their corporate aircraft.
Mr. Goldstein is Associate General Counsel of the Commercial Finance Association, which is the worldwide trade association for asset-based lenders and factors. He is also a member of the American Bar Association's Uniform Commercial Code Committee and the International Bar Association's committees on commercial banking and aviation law and served as Chair of the Section on Business Law Aviation Law Committee from 1993 to 1994. Mr. Goldstein was appointed by the President of the International Bar Association to the standing committee for the United Nations and other Worldwide Organizations. He was also elected to the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers.
Mr. Goldstein is a frequent lecturer for the Practicing Law Institute, where he has served as a panelist for over 10 years on their annual program, "Asset Based Lending and Acquisition Financing." He also lectures for the California Bankers' Association, the Commercial Finance Association, the Commercial Finance Conference of California and the Equipment Leasing Association of America.
Mr. Goldstein has authored numerous articles on asset-based lending. He has also co-authored chapters on inter-creditor agreements and aircraft financing in the Asset Based Financing Transactional Guide and is the co-author of the book entitled Structuring Secured Commercial Loan Documents.
Mr. Goldstein received his B.A. from Stanford University in 1962 and his LL.B from the University of California School of Law at Los Angeles in 1965.
