Richard J. Cote M.D. FRCPATH is a board certified Anatomical Pathologist who has served over 20 years in senior academic consultative and director/clinical roles with leading hospitals and healthcare enterprises primarily in the area of cancer care.
He received his medical degree from the University of Chicago - Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Cornell University Medical College New York. He served a clinical fellowship in pathology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center a research fellowship in Human Tumor Immunology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and a fellowship in Molecular Pathology at New York University School of Medicine. He currently serves as Professor Department of Pathology Professor Department of Urology Director Genitourinary Program Chair USC Biomedical Nanosciences Initiative and Director Laboratory of Immunology and Molecular Pathology at University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles. Dr. Cote was the founder of IMPATH Inc. served on the Board of Directors and was the Chief Strategic Consultant for the company. Dr. Cote led the reorganization of Clarient to include the focus on providing the highest quality information to pathologists and clinicians who manage patients with cancer.
Dr. Cote is an avid researcher with a major area of investigation related to cellular and molecular markers of tumor progression. He has special interests in micrometastases detection and characterization tumor suppressor gene analysis and molecular mechanisms of racial/ethnic variation and androgen independence in prostate cancer. He is the recipient of many awards and major research grants and holds several patents for cancer related monoclonal antibodies and for advanced diagnostic platforms. He has participated on numerous scientific advisory boards for both academic and industry related institutions. He is a well known author and lecturer and is the co-editor of Immuno Microscopy: A Diagnostic Tool for the Surgical Pathologist and Modern Surgical Pathology. He has also served as a member advisor and/or officer to a large number of national and international study groups cancer programs and societies including the National Cancer Institute. He is listed in the “Best Doctors in America” and “America’s Top Doctors”. |
