Mr. Richard Rosberger is Of Counsel in the Litigation Department of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP.
Mr. Rosberger's practice encompasses securities, banking, insurance, class actions, RICO and general commercial litigation.
For the past five years, Mr. Rosberger served as Assistant United States Attorney, Civil Division, Southern District of New York. During his tenure, Mr. Rosberger was responsible for an extensive docket of tort, constitutional, false claims act, forfeiture, environmental, habeas, tax and bankruptcy cases. Notable cases included leading on the civil side a joint criminal/civil investigation involving healthcare fraud that led to a consent decree and monetary settlement, and successfully defending the United States in a trial under the Federal Tort Claims Act. He also argued numerous dispositive motions in the District Court and appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. In 2005 he was a co-recipient of the John Marshall Award for Alternative Dispute Resolution for settlement of claims brought on behalf of the U. S. Navy Exchange.
Prior to joining the U.S. Attorney's office, Mr. Rosberger spent six years as an associate in Milbank's New York litigation department. His responsibilities included preparing clients for as well as taking and defending depositions; preparing pleadings, motions and briefs; supervising a team of lawyers in discovery; and participating in all aspects of cases.
Mr. Rosberger is a member of the State of New York. He received his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and managing editor of the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law. Mr. Rosberger earned an M.A. in international law from George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs and a B.A. from Cornell University. |
