Mr. May is a Policy Director in Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck’s Washington D.C. office. He works on issues before the U.S. Congress and the executive branch of the federal government. Mr. May has nearly 30 years of combined experience working in government relations and as a staff member in the legislative branch of both state and federal governments. He came to Brownstein after spending four years as a principal at Davidson & Company, a government relations firm in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining Davidson & Company, Mr. May was the Majority Staff Director for the House Budget Committee, and was previously the Republican Staff Director of the Committee. During Mr. May's five-year tenure with the Budget Committee, he played a major role in the formulation of the historic Balanced Budget Act of 1997, the first balanced budget adopted by Congress and signed into law since 1969. His responsibilities included being the major policy advisor to the Committee Chairman, former U.S. Rep. John R. Kasich (R-OH), and budget advisor to the House Republican Leadership. From 1989 to 1993, Mr. May served as Federal Affairs Counsel for the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) and also staffed NCSL's Communications Committee. From 1983 to 1989, Mr. May was Legislative Director to former Congressman John Kasich and, from 1977 to 1983, he served as a Legislative Assistant in the Ohio State Senate including working for the President of the Senate. |
