Mr. Richard E. George Jr. was appointed to True Value Company’s board of directors in October 2005. As an outside director, Mr. George has an extensive background in retail operations for several well-known companies. Currently, he is the president and CEO of R.G. Trends, Inc.
Much of his career was spent with various operations of the Jewel Companies, Inc., a multi-billion-dollar grocery and drugstore chain headquartered in Chicago. During his tenure with Jewel, which began in 1962, Mr. George became executive vice president, overseeing accounting, treasury and information systems. From there he moved to Osco Drug, Inc., in 1979, serving as the company’s president and CEO. In 1989, Mr. George founded Ulta 3 Cosmetics & Salon, Inc., where he served as initial chairman and CEO until 1994.
Mr. George holds a bachelors and masters degree from the University of Illinois and is a certified public accountant. Most recently, he has been an active member of Alpha Capital’s CEO Advisor Group and serves as chairman of Fund III’s CEO advisors. He also serves as a non-executive chairman of the board for Factory Card & Party Outlet Corp. |
