Rick O’Dell is President and chief executive officer of Saia, Inc. He is responsible for corporate strategy and management oversight for Saia. In 1997, O’Dell joined Saia as chief financial officer. He continued in that position until his appointment as President and CEO in 1999. Prior to joining Saia, he was associated with YRC Worldwide since 1984 where he held a variety of positions in the Yellow Transportation organization in the Finance and Treasury areas. In 1995, he moved to YRC subsidiary WestEx as Vice President of Finance and Administration. He also served two years with a public accounting firm.
O’Dell is a founding member of the Peachtree Ridge High School Foundation and serves on the fundraising council for the Sugarloaf Tennis Pro-Am which has risen over $1 million for juvenile diabetes research. In 1983, O’Dell received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Business Administration from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. He resides in Atlanta, GA with his wife and their two children.
