Richard B. Wentz is Senior Managing Director, General Counsel and Chief Ethics Officer for Countrywide Financial Corporation, (NYSE:CFC), a diversified financial services provider and member of the S&P 500.
Wentz manages the Banking, Lending and Litigation sections of the Company's Legal Department. He is also responsible for all corporate ethics initiatives, and oversees efforts to mitigate litigation exposures throughout the enterprise.
Wentz previously served as Managing Director and Chief Compliance Officer for CFC, and has held a variety of other positions within the Legal Division. Wentz joined the Company in 1994. During his tenure, his accomplishments have included creating the litigation group, automating the litigation management function and establishing a central corporate compliance and ethics function.
Wentz began practicing law in 1985 at the law firm of Overland, Berke, Wesley, Gits Randolph & Levanas. He moved to Tuttle and Taylor, a law corporation, in 1987 and became a partner in 1990. Wentz holds a Bachelor's degree from Williams College and a J.D. from the Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, Berkeley.
Wentz's professional activities have included chairing the Mortgage Bankers Association's Subcommittee on Class Action Reform and the Legislative Committee of the Corporate Law Departments Section of the California State Bar. He is a member of the board of Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School West and a Wexner Heritage Foundation fellow. |
