Mr. Spring joined the Company in 1978 as staff maintenance engineer and held various supervisory positions in Operations Maintenance and Engineering before being named plant manager of the Iatan Generating Station in 1984. He was appointed Manager of Performance Programs in 1988 and Plant Manager of the La Cygne Generating Station in 1991. In 1993 he joined Northern Indiana Public Service Company as Director of Electric Production and returned to KCP&L in 1994 as Vice President of Power Production. He was named Vice President of Transmission and Environmental Services in 1999 and assumed his current position in March 2000.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Wichita State University and a Master’s of Business Administration from Rockhurst College.
Mr. Spring is a member of several committees and task forces for the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) including but not limited to the Transmission Policy Task Force the Energy Delivery Public Policy EAC the Transmission Policy Task Force and the Reliability Policy Working Group. Mr. Spring is also a member of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Research Advisory Council the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) Strategic Planning Committee and the Wolf Creek Owners Committee. He is a SPP board member and past president of Kansas City Harmony. |
