RICHARD A. SCHWEINHART was named Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Company in December 2002, after serving as a full time consultant to the Ventas since May 2002. He was promoted to Executive Vice President in January 2006. From September 1998 to February 2002, Mr. Schweinhart was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Kindred Healthcare, Inc. (NYSE:KND). Prior to that, Mr. Schweinhart was a Senior Vice President of Finance for Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corporation ("Columbia") and was Chief Financial Officer at Galen Health Care, Inc. prior to its acquisition by Columbia. Previously, Mr. Schweinhart was a Senior Vice President of Finance at Humana Inc. He is a Certified Public Accountant and he is on the Board of Directors of Health Enterprises Network of Louisville.
