Richard joined JMFA after a 23-year career in banking. He has a broad base of management experience in community banking having served as Chief Lending Officer and President of various small and medium sized financial institutions.
He began his banking career in 1972 with American Bank of Tulsa and rose to the level of Chief Lending Officer by 1980. American was the highest earning bank in the region, posting ROA’s near 3% and ROE’s around 25%. This was due, in part, to substantial earnings gains realized as a result of engaging JMFA for a study in 1978. In 1982, Richard and his management team left American and chartered Southern National Bank in Tulsa, which was sold in 1992 to Boatman’s Bancshares of St. Louis, Missouri. After a restructuring consulting assignment with a New Orleans financial institution, Richard joined JMFA as sales director for the Southeastern region. He is presently Executive Sales Director supervising sales efforts in 22 states.
He graduated from the University of Tulsa where he was President of Kappa Sigma fraternity and later graduated from the Southeastern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University in Dallas where he was class Vice President.
He brings to JMFA a unique understanding of financial institutions, how to assess their weaknesses and capitalize on their strengths. |
