Experience
Richard, a partner in the firm, practices primarily in the areas of general business, contracts, corporations and intellectual property. He is experienced with business operations, organization, financing, and mergers and acquisitions, including such matters as choosing the right entity, distribution and vendor agreements, debt financing, securities offerings, shareholder rights, covenants not to compete, and employment agreements.
As a general business lawyer, Richard has worked with many types of companies, including retail, financial services, real estate investment, manufacturing, business services and venture capital companies. Many of these businesses have been private companies that were started and built by entrepreneurs.
Richard has had particular experience representing companies and their owner/managers in fabrication industries. His legal experience includes operating matters, such as manufacturing, licensing, marketing and distribution. He has also advised buyers and sellers of both large and small manufacturing companies. His experience with these companies began more than twenty years ago.
With a background in computer programming pre-law school, Richard has also had substantial legal experience advising technology industry clients regarding the development, licensing, acquisition and distribution of different types of technology, including software, computer hardware, telecom equipment and bio-tech.
In addition to general business law, Richard practices in the area of intellectual property, including the selection, registration and protection of trademarks; the licensing and protection of trade secrets; and the application of copyright law to creative works.
