Richard Leavy is a respected tax attorney and business adviser. Prior to joining Mayer Brown in 2007, Richard was an equity partner at another prominent international law firm (1998-2007). During the 1995-1996 term, he served as judicial intern to The Honorable Leonard I. Garth, US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. His practice includes all areas of state and local taxation, concentrating on the following areas:
Transactional analysis and planning: Review, restructure, and implement proposed transactions for state tax efficiency.
Structural planning: Evaluate historic and anticipated business operations, review legacy tax planning initiatives, analyze multi-state tax filing profiles, use and location of credit facilities, and corporate structures and the creation of tax-efficient strategies.
