Dr. Gupta received her bachelor and medical degrees from the University of Zambia and completed her medical and post-doctoral training at Albert Einstein Medical Center and the University of Pennsylvania’s Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Wistar Institute of Anatomy and Biology. She is Executive Vice President Development and Chief Medical Officer at Transave, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing innovative, inhalation pharmaceuticals for the treatment of serious lung diseases. Dr. Gupta has more than 20 years of development, regulatory, and senior management experience in the biopharma industry. She joined Transave from Antigenics, Inc., where she was Senior Vice President of Development, advancing its immunotherapy and small molecule pipeline for oncology and Infectious Diseases. Prior to that, she served at Novartis as Vice President and Head of U.S. Clinical Research and Development and Global Head of Cardiovascular, Metabolics, Endocrine and Gastroenterology Research. Dr. Gupta also spent two years at Covance as Vice President and Head of Medical, Safety and Therapeutics, and almost 10 years at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where she was responsible for clinical research, business development, and global development and marketing strategy. Her work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals and she has been active in numerous relevant academic and professional societies. Dr. Gupta is a founding member of the Industrial Management Board at the Harvard Medical School. Additionally, Dr. Gupta is Chair of the Medical Advisory Council for Antigenics, a Board Member for the Charlie Guild Melanoma Foundation and serves on the Institute of Medicine Forum on Emerging Infections. |
