As Executive Vice President for Spaeth Communications, Rebecca Shaw brings to the firm a broad background in communications, public relations and politics. Rebecca joined Spaeth Communications in 1987, and specializes in communications training, crisis management, strategic consulting, media relations, writing assignments and public relations project management. Rebecca is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America. She is an award-winning writer with a Matrix Award from Women In Communications, three awards of Merit from the International Association of Business Communicators for speech writing, opinion and feature articles and a Silver Quill Award for Crisis Communication Strategy. In the corporate world, she was a public relations and communications executive for RepublicBank in Dallas. She was editor and general manager of a quarterly visitors’ publication distributed throughout the Dallas area. Rebecca has also worked in radio and television for stations KTVV Channel 36 and KHFI-FM in Austin, Texas. Rebecca began her professional career on the 1972 re-election campaign staff of the late U.S. Senator John G. Tower, organizing the campaign in 183 Texas rural counties. Following the election, she served on the Senator’s Washington staff. In 1978, Rebecca was named Headquarters Manager for the Dallas County Republican Party and managed several successful individual campaigns. A graduate of the Leadership Dallas program, Rebecca served on the Board of Advisors for the Dallas Chapter of the Entrepreneurship Institute, and is a member of Public Relations Society of America and the International Association of Business Communicators. Rebecca holds a B.A. degree in Business from Stephens College, a Master in Liberal Arts degree from Southern Methodist University, as well as having completed executive marketing and finance programs at SMU. Rebecca has two daughters. |
