Ms. Knowles is a partner in the Firm’s Real Estate Group. She represents developers in creating condominiums, property owners’ associations, as well as mixed use, commercial and planned communities. She also represents property owners associations and condominium associations and regularly counsels boards of directors in handling the day-to-day affairs of their communities. Working with both small and large communities in Hampton Roads, the Peninsula and Southside, and throughout Virginia, Ms. Knowles frequently deals with questions raised by boards of directors on community management and document modification strategy. Ms. Knowles advocates careful adherence to statutory responsibilities. With a proactive approach to issues, she seeks legally correct as well as practical solutions, believing well-run, organized boards that communicate well with association members can have a positive influence on the community. Ms. Knowles brings valuable perspective to the firm from her prior work experience including sixteen years as in-house litigation counsel in New York City, as Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Goldman, Sachs & Co., and as Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Citigroup Inc./Citibank, N.A. Due to her litigation background, Ms. Knowles has dealt with a variety of issues throughout her career including crisis management, risk management and legal strategy.
