Rebecca Rudnick Santiago works on labor relations and special education matters with many school districts in Connecticut. She has served as the chief negotiator in a number of school districts in contract negotiations with non-certified units as well as teacher and administrator negotiations.
Rebecca handles administrative hearings for districts, including student expulsion hearings, student accommodations hearings, FERPA hearings, unemployment hearings and Freedom of Information hearings. She assists boards of education in special education matters, including PPT meetings, mediation and due process hearings. She also counsels districts in drafting policies and administrative procedures in all education law areas.
While in law school, Rebecca worked as a Legal Intern for the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights (OCR). Her experience at OCR has been beneficial in assisting school districts to respond to complaints filed with OCR.
