Mr. Via's practice has primarily involved the representation of condominiums and homeowners associations throughout Maryland and the District of Columbia. He represents both developer and homeowner controlled associations and also is experienced in drafting governing documents for community associations. In addition to advising associations and creating legislations, Mr. Via has also successfully litigated numerous cases including community associations in both trial and appellate courts. His practice also includes representing community banks and small corporations in transactional and general litigation matters. Mr. Via, a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law, is a current member of the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the Community Associations Institute ("CAI") and a past president of the Board of Directors of the Chesapeake Chapter of CAI. In that capacity, he has authored and lectured extensively on community association issues and regularly teaches homeowner education courses. He is also a member of CAI's National Public Policy Committee and a delegate to the Maryland Legislative Action Committee where he is involved in the process of both creating and monitoring national, state and local legislation affecting community associations.
