Ray Sherman spent the last two years coaching wide receivers with the Tennessee Titans. Under Sherman's direction in 2006, Drew Bennett was the Titans leading receiver with 46 catches for 737 yards while helping rookie quarterback Vince Young earn a Pro Bowl selection. In his first season in Tennessee, Sherman had four rookie receivers - with each catching over 20 passes - the first rookie quartet to do so since the 1968 Buffalo Bills. Sherman held the same position with the Green Bay Packers from 2000-04 where he helped groom young receivers Javon Walker, Donald Driver and Robert Ferguson into Pro Bowl players. In his 18 years in the NFL, Sherman has worked for seven teams, coaching wide receivers, running backs, quarterbacks or serving as the offensive coordinator for Minnesota (1999), Pittsburgh (1998) and the NY Jets (1994). He has been a part of offenses that have finished in the top 10 in the NFL in both points and total yardage 11 times.
Sherman broke into the NFL in 1988 as the running backs coach with the Houston Oilers. Prior to joining the NFL, he spent 14 years coaching at the college level. He began his coaching career at San Jose State as a graduate assistant in 1974.
