Ray Bear, who enters his fourth season and fifth year with the Thrashers, is responsible for all strength and conditioning programs for players and prospects throughout the organization The Portsmouth, Ohio, native served as the Atlanta Braves' minor league strength and conditioning coach during the 2000 and 2001 seasons. Prior to joining the Braves, Bear served as the assistant strength coach for all sports teams at Ohio University from 1999-2000 Bear worked as the strength and conditioning coach for the Kansas City Royals for the 1998 and 1999 seasons and served as the athletic trainer/strength coach for the Huntington Blizzard of the ECHL during the 1997-98 season He graduated from Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio, with a degree in sports medicine in 1998 and is working on a master's and doctorate degrees in athletic administration through the University of Georgia Bear enjoys mountain climbing, cave exploring, weightlifting and outdoor activities He and his wife, Maria, and their sons, Levi and Elija, reside in Dacula, Ga. |
