Raul Yzaguirre is professor of practice in community development and civil rights at Arizona State University's College of Public Programs. Yzaguirre was formerly President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Council of La Raza (NCLR). Before taking over direction of NCLR in 1974, Mr. Yzaguirre served as a part-time Vice President of the Center for Community Change, and was the founder and Executive Director of Interstate Research Associates, a Mexican American-owned consulting firm which reached an income level of $3 million per year under his leadership. A nationally known Hispanic leader, he was founding Chairperson of the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR) and of the National Neighborhood Coalition. In addition, he is a former Chair of the Independent Sector and currently serves on the Boards of Sears Roebuck & Co., the National Democratic Institute, Enterprise Foundation, National Hispanic Leadership Agenda, the National Alliance for Business, and the Council of Foreign Relations. A native of San Juan, Texas, Mr. Yzaguirre has a Bachelor's degree in management and social sciences from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and has done graduate work there in public administration and economics. |
