Randy Sims, vice president, chief legal officer and secretary, joined Cerner Corporation in March of 1997. Mr. Sims came to Cerner after three years at Farmland Industries, Inc. where he served most recently as Associate General Counsel. At Farmland, a Fortune 200 agribusiness conglomerate, Mr. Sims was responsible for the legal staffing and management of all company transactions, including financing, acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures and alliances.
Prior to his service at Farmland, Mr. Sims provided general legal representation to The Marley Company, including legal services related to acquisitions and divestitures, real estate, product liability, antitrust and litigation management. Marley (now a division of United Dominion Industries) was a diversified manufacturer of industrial and residential products and provider of professional services to the water and environmental markets. Mr. Sims joined Marley as an attorney in 1986 and left as Assistant General Counsel in 1993. Mr. Sims began his legal career as an associate at the Kansas City law firm of Morrison & Hecker.
Mr. Sims earned a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University, a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Kansas School of Law and an Executive Fellows master’s degree in business administration from Rockhurst College. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Alpha Lambda Educational Foundation and on the Operating Board of the First Hand Foundation. He served on the Advisory Board of The Roasterie, Inc. from 1994 to 1999. Mr. Sims is a member of various local and national bar associations. |
