Dr. Rama Chellappa is a Senior Vice President of SET Corporation. Prior to joining SET, Dr. Chellapa was CEO and Founder of Image Corp., a developer of highly advanced image and video technology. Rama is currently Minta Martin Professor in the College of Engineering at the University of Maryland, where he has made many pioneering contributions to image and video understanding, pattern recognition and signal and image processing. Rama has served as Principal Investigator on numerous Department of Defense programs funded by DARPA, ONR, AFOSR, ARO and ARL and NSF. And until recently, he was the Editor-in-Chief of the prestigious IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence and Vice-President of IEEE Signal Processing Society. Rama’s contributions to the field of computer vision have been recognized through numerous awards, including the NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award, IBM Faculty Development Award, Distinguished Scholar-Teacher Award, Distinguished Faculty Research Fellow Award and a Technical Achievement Award from IEEE Signal Processing Society. Rama is a Fellow of IEEE and IAPR, and a Golden Core Member of the IEEE Computer Society. |
