I am currently an Investment Officer based in Washington, DC, in IFC’s Global Manufacturing and Services department, which provides financing to private sector projects in sectors such as building materials, tourism, retail, electronics and appliances, and wood products. As an Investment Officer my work involves identifying, appraising, structuring and negotiating investment opportunities, and supervising portfolio projects.
At IFC I have worked on a wide range of manufacturing projects across the globe. My projects have varied from simple project finance transactions and portfolio monitoring to a complex management buy-out and an early stage venture capital financing. In addition to learning about the investment philosophies and government policies in countries such as China, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Madagascar, and Cambodia, I have gained considerable exposure to global management practices, high environmental and social standards, and good corporate governance. It is this opportunity to play a role in the evolution of the private sector in the developing world that excites me about being part of IFC.
IFC has been a great platform for my career and personal growth. It has offered me many opportunities to stretch and excel myself tremendously through my project assignments, training programs, and other "extracurricular" departmental and corporate initiatives. IFC also appeals to me because I have talented colleagues from whom I have learned to make sound investment decisions. On a day-to-day basis I highly value the cultural diversity and the great sense of independence and trust that exist in the workplace. I truly believe that I could not have received such a rich personal and professional experience at any other institution. |
